GERTRUDE STEIN BOOK LAYOUT
Project: School Assignment
Class: Visible Language
2008
_
Book layout for Gertrude Stein’s poems: Objects, Foods, and Rooms. The class was instructed to design seven possible spreads based on her writing methodologies of simultaneity, fracturing, layering, and rhythm. The use of repetition in her poems was an influential starting point for the spreads. The layout of the pages get more structured as you progress through the book because the more you digest her work, the more familiar you get with her writing style.
